WORLD MARATHON MAJORS LEADER LILIYA SHOBUKHOVA READY TO DEFEND TITLE AT 2010 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
The 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced the addition of several elite women to its star-studded field currently headlined by defending champion Liliya Shobukhova of Russia and 2009 runner-up Irina Mikitenko of Germany. Like the men’s race, the 2009-2010 World Marathon Majors (WMM) series will likely be decided in Chicago with the highly anticipated rematch between top-ranked Shobukhova (60 points) and the defending WMM series champion Mikitenko, currently ranked second (40 points).

CHAMPIONS SAMMY WANJIRU, ROBERT KIPRONO CHERUIYOT AND TSEGAYE KEBEDE ADDED TO 2010 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced that three of the world’s top marathon champions will compete head to head in the most competitive field ever assembled in the 33-year history of the race. Defending Bank of America Chicago Marathon champion Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya, 2010 Virgin London Marathon champion Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia, and 2010 Boston Marathon champion Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot of Kenya will put their winning records on the line in Chicago on Sunday, October 10.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON TO HELP SET OPPORTUNITY IN MOTION FOR CHICAGO; "10-10-10: THE DATE TO MOTIVATE" CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES TODAY

Bank of America today launched a new integrated marketing campaign for the 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon and released results of the latest economic impact report, which found that the event generates nearly $150 million for the local economy. Additionally, more than $10 million is expected to be raised in connection with the 2010 event, benefitting more than 150 nonprofit organizations, the largest charity field in race history.

TOP U.S. WOMEN SET TO BATTLE AT THE 2010 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced a preliminary roster of elite athletes that includes several of the United States’ top female marathon performers. Headlining the U.S. contingent are Olympians Magdalena Lewy-Boulet (Oakland, CA) and Colleen De Reuck (Boulder, CO). Challenging them for top American honors will be IAAF World Championship team members Desiree Davila (Rochester Hills, MI) and Tera Moody (Colorado Springs, CO), along with Melissa White (Rochester Hills, MI).

U.S. OLYMPIC MARATHONER RYAN HALL JOINS 2010 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON FIELD IN AN ATTEMPT TO LOWER THE MEN'S AMERICAN RECORD
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced U.S. Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall, 27, will compete in the October 10, 2010 race in an attempt to lower the 2:05:38 American record set by Khalid Khannouchi in 2002. The Mammoth Lakes, Calif., resident and recognized philanthropist will lead a team of 100 runners representing his non-profit organization, The Hall Steps Foundation.

2010 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON REGISTRATION CLOSES AS RACE REACHES 45,000-PARTICIPANT CAPACITY IN RECORD TIME
Open registration for the 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon officially closed today as 45,000 participants have signed up in record time to complete the 26.2-mile race. The capacity was met in 51 days, closing a full month ahead of 2009’s record pace. A limited number of entries remain available through affiliated charities and tour groups for the October 10 race.

BANK OF AMERICA LAUNCHES LOCAL YOUTH FITNESS INITIATIVE THROUGH TWO PREMIER RUNNING EVENTS
Bank of America today announced it will match funds generated through its world-renowned Chicago-based running events – Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and Bank of America Chicago Marathon – to launch a local youth fitness initiative in its continued support of after-school programs. In an event held today at Navy Pier, David Sontag, regional managing director, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Management, announced a total donation of $324,000 will be split among four local organizations: ChicagoRun, Girls on the Run, MGR Foundation and Special Children’s Charities/Special Olympics Chicago.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON REGISTRATION OPENS TODAY
Online registration for the 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon opened to the public today at chicagomarathon.com. The 33rd edition of the 26.2-mile race will be held on October 10 – 10/10/10 – beginning and ending in Chicago’s historic Grant Park. Registration is open to the first 45,000 registered participants.
